Password protect by Category

I would like to request the password protect be available for an entire category verses just by page. We have an area on our school pages for the teachers sites. Currently, you have to log into the main page and then can move around freely - but for those who are a little savvy, they have figured out if they just bookmark the page or copy the URL, anyone can get in. Each teacher has a few pages and we like for the parents to be able to move between teachers easily.

It is unrealistic to password protect every page. and ask parents to log in every time they switch a page. Therefore, it would be great to have a category password protect. In the near future, I see this as an issue on the church page as well.

Thank you!

Hi Brenda,

We do agree that this is a great idea! We will certainly be reviewing the feasibility and considering this enhancement.

We did want to comment that once an end-user is logged in, they do not have to login again if they switch a page. Their login credentials should be retained by the session (browser) and not require any additional login for any page(s) they have permissions for. Once they log out - or should they move to a new browser, yes, they would have to login again.

We are moving this to our planned list of enhancements, but are not able to provide an ETA at this time.

If this is an enhancement you'd like to see - be sure to vote so our development team knows this is important to many customers.

It would be helpful if subordinate (child) pages would inherit the "properties" from the parent page, specifically the "noindex, nofollow" and security/password settings.  Alternatively, having a utility to apply the properties to selected pages would be just as useful.
